Simio Academic Grant Application for Academic Institutions

New Simio Academic Grant Program In August 2023, changes were made to the Simio Academic Grant Program: student licenses are now included with the award. The duration for all awards is one (1) year from approval. See https://www.simio.com/academic-licensing/process/ for details about the updated Academic Grant Program.

This form is intended for university representatives who are applying for the Simio Academic Grant program. If you are a student, this is not the correct request form (see https://www.simio.com/academic-licensing/process/ for details and the correct form link). Please complete this form to apply for the grant program, which offers software and educational material to help universities and their instructors teach Simio. Two types of software licenses are awarded: (a) for university machines and (b) for student machines. Instructions for student licensing will be provided once your application has been approved.

Your responses to the questions herein should be specific to the award (i.e., this year) for which you are applying.

If you are renewing an existing grant award, enter your Grant Identifier. You will have received communication that explicitly mentioned Grant Identifier: previous award notifications emails and reminder communications.

If the department's usage of Simio changes, or more students need access during the award duration, please email academic (at) simio (dot) com for assistance.
About You

Which option best describes you?

A valid academic email address is required.

You selected 'Other', please provide your position not listed.

Provide as much detail as possible to help us identify you, where there may be multiple applicants from a single institution.

Your Grant Identifier can be found in previous award notifications or in a renewal reminder. Email academic (at) simio (dot) com for questions.

By providing a URL for a institutional webpage that demonstrates your affiliation and status, your request can be processed more efficiently.
Your Use of Simio

'Yes' is expected for most applicants, where Simio will be used in the classroom or for a project which facilitates learning without direct commercial benefit.

Non-academic use includes most applications other than explicitly teaching. The program primarily serves academic missions, but commercial usage is encouraged with appropriate licenses.
Using Simio for Teaching

'Yes' is expected for applicants who want to offer students complimentary student licenses. If this request is for an additional grant award for the same period as an existing award with student licensing, consider 'No'.

How many student licenses should be made available during the award duration? More can be added later.

If the number of students who will use Simio changes during the award duration, please contact academic (at) simio (dot) com for assistance.

Using Simio for Research
The number of researchers who will require a Simio license.

If you are not the lead researcher, please include their information, as available.

Please include partnerships for the Simio-related research.
Simio Licenses For Institution Machines, Researchers, and Faculty/Staff
Enter the number of desired seats of Simio on university-owned and other non-student machines. Network licenses are installed on a server, from which client machines check-out the license when needed. Node-locked licenses are installed on the client machine and cannot be shared with other machines. The count of seats represents the number of simultaneous users.

Network licensing offers a means for better understanding license usage and seats can be distributed across servers if desired; otherwise, there is no functional difference, except what has been described. In most cases, a department uses one license type or the other.

Enter the count of each type of license the department would like. Keep in mind, no matter the type, there can be no more simultaneous users than there are seats.

»»NOTE: Licenses for student machines should should not be considered in the number(s) provided in this section. Licenses for student machines (i.e., Student licenses) are provisioned from the prior asked question about the Approximate Total Number of Students. More details about how Student licenses are attained are provided in the grant award email notification.

If the number of licenses/seats required changes during the award duration, please contact academic (at) simio (dot) com for assistance, do not submit another request using this form
Enter '0' for none.
